I CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS

2020
split-screen video performance

Anastasija Pavić’s work I Can Move Mountains was inspired by romcoms popularizing grand romantic gestures, and the recognizable, corny vocabulary of love declarations. The work conveys the absurdity of ambition and accomplishment whose baseless expressions have become empty uniform phrases, performative actions overinterpreted to their banality. Its interface relates to our everyday, socio-technological life, and relies on the use of the Face Tune app, generally applied for processing and beautifying images intended to create an online presence.- Maja Petrović, art historian
