In "I Can Move Mountains", the artist manipulates images of mountains using the liquify effect in the FaceTune app. Screen recordings capture the process alongside footage of the artist kissing a phone screen as she performs it. The work uses the language of romantic grand gestures familiar from popular media, particularly within heterosexual romantic narratives. By taking the phrase “I would move mountains for you,” the performance turns a gesture traditionally associated with male devotion into an action carried out by the woman herself. Through this reversal, the performance sets grand declarations of love against the often unrecognized forms of care expected from women within relationships.
